The Apple Watch SE 2 is a smartwatch that offers the majority of the features found on the high-end Apple Watch 8 at a more affordable price.
The SE 2 is equipped with the same S8 processor as the Watch 8, providing the same level of performance. It also runs on the latest watchOS 9 and uses the W3 wireless chip, ensuring a reliable connection to your phone. Notifications appear promptly on the screen, and some messages can be replied to, emails can be read, and notifications can be dismissed with a swipe. The speaker is loud, and calls are instantly recognized.
The SE 2 is water-resistant and can be used for swimming up to 50 meters. It also offers the Backtrack feature and supports the redesigned compass app. It comes with the same altimeter, accelerometer, and gyroscope as the Series 8. The SE 2’s design is both recognizable and comfortable to wear in any setting, from the office to the gym to sleeping. The battery life is not the best out there as it lasts about 18 hours.
The SE 2’s price takes into account the absence of certain features, such as the ECG feature and blood oxygen tracking, found on the Watch 8. It runs on the last-generation temperature sensor, which provides less-detailed ovulation estimates. The SE 2’s charge rate is slow, and there is no fast charging option, unlike the Watch 8. There is also no always-on screen option, but notifications are available for abnormally high or low heart rates, cycle tracking, fall and noise detection, crash detection, and sleep tracking.
The SE 2 is a refined version of the original Apple Watch SE, with an even lighter-weight body, a new processor for future-proofing, new colors, and a small price drop. However, if you already own the original Apple Watch SE, there is no need to upgrade to the SE 2 as there are no significant new features.
